Bed is a little to hard for me
booked 6 rooms for a wedding nearby. We had large suites and were able to host a night before party for 45 people. The full kitchen enabled us to store, prepare, and serve food and drinks. The hotel provided extra wine and drink glasses, plates and platters as well as serving tables and linens. The location is quiet, yet near the canal and downtown, we were able to watch the Canada fireworks from our windows and balcony.
Very glad to get the last parking space in your garage; for that I came in late morning; excellent. Our suite 704 was very spacious, comfortable beds, all was clean and it was quiet. For one night we did not use kitchen, but the facilities are there and for a longer stay this is good. The hairdrier was broken and I mentioned it to a very friendly female receptionist. All in all very good value for their present fees. Location is stellar.
Receptionist could have been a bit more charming, but he was efficient and got me the last parking space. The breakfast at the resto was rather below standard with bad, lukewarm coffee, but all in all it was ok, and the waitress was friendly and knew her job. I would prefer to pay a bit more for a better bf. At least the coffee should be improved - a new machine which heats well!
Rooms are big and falcilities in the kitchen are ok.
The Room Service was wonderful - I ordered a veggie burger and it was delicious - the chef was great in noticing that I ordered a ceasar salad and called up to see if I was vegetarian - to know if it would be with or without bacon.
The cable service was not working properly. The parking fee was too high as a daily rate - I would have preferred a reduced cost for 2 days.
The housekeeping staff helped me with a couple extra requirements for my room, and they were very efficient, willing and friendly. I also need hep at the front desk and those people were also very helpful and friendly.
Having the breakfast nook and the Study closed on the weekends is inconvenient.
Value for money is very good for downtown Ottawa. It is well located if one wants to shop (shopping center nearby) with several eateries nearby. My large room with well equipped kitchenette is ideal for families.
It can be far from some major tourist attractions (certainly a good 20 minutes by foot). There is also a paucity of taxis around the hotel. The airport shuttle when ordered failed to show up and when called advised it would be 45 minutes late.
We had top floor 1 bedroom suite - nice apartment with balcony and great view. Myself and 2 older daughters. No car needed as easy walking to Rideau center and University etc. Elgin street 2 blocks away with bus routes, excellent restaurants. So location is perfect. Can recommend Mayflower for breakfast and don't miss Friday's restaurant for prime rib. In hotel, although we did not cook much kitchen was certainly equipped for all our needs. Nor did we use the breakfast, nor other hotel facilities only because we had no need. When it was hot finding AC was tricky as located above refrigerator, but found it OK without having to phone desk. Will stay again next trip to Ottawa. Lovely city. And the wifi Internet is free and good speed.
Phone seemed a problem when daughters were phoning room and when we missed receiving a delivery as pphone did not ring in living room. And when it did it would only ring 2x and then line was dead. Advised desk so no big deal.
Value for money, opportunty (if required) of kitchen facilities
The only point is no restaurant service within the hotel on weekends. (except for room service)
we liked the view from our room and the room itself. The location was fantastic for our purposes.
We were not allowed to check into our room 1 hour early. We were never informed when our room was ready, we had to ask again after 3pm. And we were sitting in the lobby waiting. Overall we were not impressed by the staff's bad attitude regarding our 1 hour early arrival.
it was a very confortable location , staff where helpfull when needed.quite a walk to most of the attractions. the hotel located near many coffee shops and resturants. we felt very safe and cofortable withe the location.
Fantastic hotel, central location, big rooms ,wonderul kitchen, worth second home, attached balcony
The room at Embassy Hotel & Suites is spacious for a family like us and it also provides all the necessary kitchen appliances for cooking. The hotel itself is very close to the City Hall, the University of Ottawa, and the Rideau Center. I would recommend it to others who just come to Ottawa and wait for moving to a new place. It is really worth the money.
It was conveniently located close to the church where the wedding we were attending took place as well as to the Legion Hall where the reception was. The suite was large and could easily have accomodated another couple if we had been travelling with other family members. The furnishings were lovely and I wished that we could have stayed longer. When I travel to Ottawa again I would book with you again.
The proximity of the hotel to locations in downtown Ottawa
Room looked a little tired and when moving a couch to be able to see the tv properly, I noticed the floor under the couch had not been vacuumed in a while (lots of crumbs, mess and an old cushion under the couch). Also, the couch in the tv room is a bit dated, the upholstery needs to be replaced.
